Feel it! It was here!

The soccer world cup has come and gone. If it hadn't been for some purposeful contact with civilization (e.g. going to Cape Town, finding somewhere to watch a TV), we might never have known it had happened.

Here are some of my best hits and memories:

Opening day was awesome! Fortunately, i had managed to get tickets to the first game in Cape Town which was on opening day, which meant i had to be in Cape Town for opening day. Sarah and Bernard were also heading to Cape Town, so we got up early and travelled to the airport together. East London airport always has a wonderful friendly vibe (probably because its so small), but the 11th of June was particularly enjoyable. Almost everyone in the airport was wearing Bafana Bafana gear and was super excited. There were people flying to Joburg for the opening ceremony and game and they were particularly excited and dressed up. And the usual sound of vuvuzelas was also present. Driving to the airport, there were children standing on the streets of East London blowing vuvuzelas. We managed to find the legendary Simon (Karl's brother) who I managed to meet after missing his previous visits to Zithulele and have a chat while we waited to board.
(To be continued...)
